Default Thoughts on Judge Who Ordered Girl's Ponytail Cut Off

    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/06/24...courtroom.html

Was this even legal for the judge to do? I'm also wondering how this girl managed to cut off a toddler's hair in McDonald's. After the employees wouldn't loan the girls who cut the toddlers hair scissors, they went to a nearby dollar store and bought some. How did both these girls' parents not notice they left the building? Where were the toddler's parents when all this was going on? Just wondering what y'all's opinions are on this story

I predict that Kaytlen is going to become very familiar with the inside of a jail cell unless she shapes up pretty damn quickly.

Alas, Kaytlen appears to be just as charming as her Mother.

As for the Judge, while I can understand the reasoning behind it I feel it was inappropriate. I get the Judge's point, though.

I'm not sure what the problem is. The judge sentenced a juvenile offender to 150 hours of detention (incarceration). He then informed the juvenile's parent he would waive the punishment if she chose to cut her daughter's pony tail off.

The parent is in charge of her child. She is a grown adult and as such, is empowered to make decisions on her child's behalf. After weighing the advantages and disadvantages of the two punishment options, the parent elected to cut her child's hair rather than see her be incarcerated. She now regrets her decision and for some strange reason is blaming the judge for her choice.

Of course, those that engage in wrongdoing and the people who love them often believe they should not be punished for their misdeeds. Surprisingly, some people agree and believe that these folks are now the real "victims." Sometimes I think we live in a world where up is down and black is white.

I love every single part of this post.

If I were her mother she wouldn't be in the situation, period. Regardless, I'll go with your hypothetical question. After thinking about this, I would welcome the Judge's decision. I'd also make damn sure that my wayward child would never even contemplate doing such a stupid thing in the future.

Trust me, the Judge's punishment would be far less than the punishment my child would be getting at home.

Judge - 100% right, and perfectly legal.

I still wonder where the toddler's mother or father was. Nobody would be getting near a toddler in my charge with a pair of scissors in a McDonalds.
