Hello, this is my first post. I need some help from you guys.
3-4 days ago, I went to the office telling them that I've just bought a new car and needed to make sure I can park in the property. The office lady gave me a guest pass. I told her, I don't need a guest pass, I am a resident. She replied, "oh you're a resident? You don't need this."
She took the pass and threw it away and gave me a form. I went home, filled up the form and came back. I asked her, "so am I good?", she replied yes and I went home.
Today, my car was towed because I didn't have that guest pass. Apparently for residents, they hand out guest passes with a note saying, "RESIDENT DO NOT TOW". I had to pay 430 dollars for the tow and now I am pissed off. It's Saturday and I have to wait till Monday to talk to the manager. How do I get my money back? I didn't do anything wrong, it was this one particular lady's fault for being incompetent.
I mean, I just bought a car, worried about my car getting towed for parking at my own home, visited the office to get it settled, and my car was towed anyway! For 400 dollars!
I'm worried they wouldn't be willing to pay the fee, and in that case I would need to go to small claims court but I have no idea how to do this. Please help I don't want to pay 400 dollars for their negligence, not mine.
The problem is I don't really have evidence of visiting the office except submitting the form that stupid lady gave me. I really appreciate any suggestions and tips to handle this.
Sorry for the long post I hope someone replies...
