Default Can a Minor Live With a Friend With Parental Permission

My question involves a person located in the state of New Mexico. I am 16 years old, living in the state of New Mexico. I will be 17 on July 10 of 2017. My parents and I don't get along at all, we always yell at each other. They've called the cops on me several times because our arguments get very heated. I have a friend who's parents have agreed to take me in. My parents said this would be okay if I could find a legal way to do it. They also said emancipation is not an option for me. And I've heard that as long as both parents agree, it is okay. But my sister did the same thing at my age and somehow my parents got into legal troubles. This may be because she was kicked out but I'm not 100% sure of that whole situation. Please help. My mom wants me gone and I want to be gone but she will not do it if it's in any way illegal.

If you have your parents' permission to move in with your friend and they are willing to have you, then you can do so and it is not in any way illegal.

If at any time your parents change their mind and say you must come home, then you must come home. It is legal for you to live away from home WITH PERMISSION.

As previously stated, if your Mom gives consent and your friend's parents are willing to take responsibility for you then there wouldn't be anything illegal about it.

I suggest you get something in writing from your mother about the consent.

Doesn't matter. This is not an emancipation situation.

I know. But they will more than likely have do without things they have now. I doubt they have thought about what they will do if the friends family can't have them there until they finish high school.

The parents may not want to ve legally responsible if the child is not living with them. Usually a family decides the child can't live with them when they are told they have to be legally responsible for the child
