agreed...generally the employer reserves the right for pretty much any reason allowed by state law. California is much more employee-friendly, so I was just curious as to which state the employer used the DD form for. Generally they would only to use Mass state law since that is where he works, but some employers use a single form for all states that is the most employee-friendly.
That said, I also wonder what the COO took issue with. Hopefully the OP will find out soon.
