    Actually, I had a friend that was on Ambien and wandered out unknowingly to a woman using an ATM and demanded cash, he ended up getting charged with attempted robbery but the victim requested they drop the charges and they did. He says he doesn't even remember the incident.

    The charged offense would seem to indicate that there is more to it than that. Note the elements in the charge which include the presence of a weapon or the threat that he has one, AND inflicted or attempted to inflict great bodily harm on the victim. A threat made by an impaired person is not going to meet this.
