The details of what has already happened matter. Were you charged by grand jury indictment (which is not common), by complaint (which is the most common) or by information? Has the advisement hearing (where you are advised of the charges against you, bail, and appointment of counsal if you are indigent) been held yet? If so, why did the court not appoint you an attorney? And are you in custody (i.e. county jail) while this is taking place?
If your lawyer has appeared, then you have a lawyer -- the one who appeared on your behalf. If in fact you don't have a lawyer, then you need to either retain a lawyer or petition for a court-appointed lawyer and, once hired or appointed, the lawyer will file an appearance.
Most likely the next event will be the preliminary/dispositional hearing. You should have an attorney before you get to that step. You should have already been given the opportunity to qualify for a public defender (if indigent) or you should be looking for counsel. You don't want to fly into the hearing solo.
I was denied a public defender because I make to much but I pay out even more so I'm broke. The appearance of counsel is in 2 weeks, what comes after that because I am going to be without a lawyer.
I was denied a public defender because I make to much but I pay out more than I make. I'm not stupid, so now you have heard of someone being denied. You learn something new everyday.
The court won't give me a court appointed lawyer they already denied me so now what? Now I know why there are so many problems for people who have nobody in life to fall back on. This great system of ours sets certain people up to fail. F$ck this system. I'm out.
