Default How to Get My Personal Belongings From My Ex-Roommate

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Utah
I have never had keys to the residents because we had keyless entery, which has been changed (including garage) and claims he has no access. The police have informed him I can collect my things already. I now live an hour out of town and have no vehicle. The roommate is only allowing me one day a week to retrieve my things knowing I depend on others for help.
What can I do to get my things?
Dose he have to be there, or can my other roommate?
How long do I have to get it before I cant?
What can I do about the things that come up missing?

How about arranging to go to the apartment on the date in question, and collecting your stuff?

If you want to bring friends, or have friends help you, how about asking your ex-roommate if that's okay?

If you want to avoid losing any of your property, you should collect it ASAP. Sitting on your hands and treating yoru ex-roommate as if he's running a free storage service is not a good idea.

I have contacted him on the matter. Also giving him common courtesy and not just showing up with an officer. Not what I asked about. All but begging for my belongings is not what I would consider sitting on my hands or assuming I need storage.

You can hire a U-haul pickup truck for about $35 per day for the day that your ex-roommate says you can pick up your stuff.

    It's that simple.

Seems to me that you ARE just sitting on your hands complaining about what you can't do when you should be doing what you have to do.

Yes that's what I've done. In the form of asking for a legal better way and wasting my time reading what I thought was legal advice not a judgement based chat group. Thank you for the quick witted waste gentelman.
