Default Can Your Ex-Employer Tell a New Employer That You Were Fired

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Indiana

I accepted a new job and I told a few of my co workers. I was still working there until I was going to start the new job. Where i work, alot of people
will use their vacation time or sick time and work the other job and get two pay checks. Not my intent, but my vacation was for the next two weeks.
I was going on vacation for real and then during the 2nd week going to train on the other job .

I'm being called to human resources. I notice a few people. My supervisor, the union steward, someone i never seen from hr that had the final say if i get fired or stay. And head of security.

I actually thought i was being called up because i applied for a job for security which pays more where i work, or a supervisor job because Ive expressed interest or Id possibly need to go elsewhere.

Everything was going fine and dandy and i didnt say a word. They wanted to know more about me, my thoughts, and what i liked and didnt like and my thoughts on my job.

Then the questioning got weird. Im like, uh oh, oh boy.

The head of security asked me when the last time I had chocalate out of one of the bags. We ticket items, and then select them to stores and then pack them for shipment.

Occasionally, a bag of lets say miny bag of snickers will already be opened , so it can't be ticketed or sold. It then goes into the bin that is to be destroyed. There isn't an employee there that doesnt open up some of that candy and eat some. Some are even at the supervisor desk and people come by and eat some. Wrong, well, yeh i guess technically. Anything damaged is to have a damaged form filled out and then put into the bin to be thrown away.

They asked me the last time I ate one. I was stunned by the question. But i said , six months which is true. They said they had a call from the tip line that I was eating food at work. The head of security than investigated and saw that i was eating candy. Maybe one piece once a week out of a 2 dollar bag

They said when was the last time. I said two days ago. I didn't even realize at the time that i was about to be fired since hundreds of others do it.

I guess i felt pressure or maybe even guilt because i guess it actually is wrong. But they then asked me , they wanted to like know exactly how many times ive done it. I was like, about ten to 15 times. Im just not sure. He then said the powers that be will think i do it everyday if im not precise and i guess i wasn't precise enough.

I thought i was going to be warned .

Everyone then leaves the room except someone from hr i never seen and the union steward which has to stay there .

I then signed a piece of paper and was told I was being terminated. the union steward were in shock and wants me to fight it and is calling it in whatever that means. I was like. I don't even care. I didn't even get a chance to tell anyone that i was thinking of leaving to anyone from payroll or hr.
They are not allowed to tell any of the associates or any of the supervisors, so nobody really knows why someone leaves most of the time.

    The paper i signed says.
    Warning: Termination Immediately
    Date of violation.

Details. my name, then , I admitted to removing merchandise from the area. He also admitted to consuming merchandise for the last six months.

It had an area for me that says

Associates remarks. Re: violations. I didn't even bother to do anything.

I signed it, , has the union steward sign and then the hr supervisor.

I didnt care last night when it happened because i knew i was leaving.

Now my question is. Can or will my new job find out about this? THIS IS THE MAIN THING I WOULD LIKE ANSWERED

What if my training goes wrong and I end it ends up not working out. Its going to be hard to put down that i worked somewhere for 5 years and was terminated for stealing.

The hr exact words to me. THEFT IS THEFT AND WE HAVE TO LET YOU GO.

Im a well liked guy and most even considered me the best employee in the building which is why I wanted to be a supervisor, which they generally dont hire general associates to supervisor. They usually come from outside of the company.
Im not sure if i can say where i work, but its a distribution center for a top company and we have 40-60 people get fired, or quit about everyday. The turnover rate is crazy. Usually because its hard for alot to stand on concrete for 10 to 12 hours for 10-11 bucks an hour

What do i do on new job applications or my resume.

Tell them i was eating chocalate at work? Or don't say a word.

I start training in ten days for the new job. The new job was going to let me go on my real vacation and then train . This will be driving for ups.

    For all anyone knows.

If i was to of just come on here and said the details of my violation. That i admitted to removing and eating merchandise for the last six months. Would you want to hire me. Maybe because i type too long and live in Kentucky maybe, lol, but otherwise. You can read that and think that i stole thousands of dollars of products.

Sorry that was so long and rambling. Im just nervous about my new position that i have because it wasn't 100 percent totally mine. The independant contractor had to do some tax paperwork. My original paper work was all fedex, . I passed the physical, background, etc, all of it and basically mine. Even told him when im coming in to train and said it was great.

Im not sure if im even officially hired actually.
