My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California
I was renting a room with no kind of contract agreement. I was given a 30 day notice on April 24 and I moved out on April 30. My former landlord is trying to charge me prorated rent for May saying I should have given a notice as well. Is she able to do this? I might also add that a few weeks prior to my notice, there was flooding in the restroom next to my room and half my room was effected. The room's current condition has no door, half the walls are torn out and half the carpet is torn out. There's no way she can rent the room to anyone else!
