Default Apartment Complex Won't Allow Other Satellite TV or Internet Providers

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: CA USA

i live in a strange setup, its a low income apartment complex that i think i was told gets government founding and something called Section 8 help and RD? where the rent is based off income?

i was told that i could not bring my Direct TV because the complex did not want the roofs to be filled with trashy looking Dishs and did not want the patios to have them as well.

now i was told by people who have lived there years ago when it first open that they did not allow any Satellite Dishs at all period but after 2 years allowed Dish Network only thats it.

so i was told we cant have any other provider but DIsh Network and now i have to pay a Termination fee with Direct Tv and make the switch.

there is how ever something called Charter but they dont offer a DVR nor syfy or any premium content like hbo or even HD in this complex so everyone ops for dish....

but then i called the internet company to get something called Frontier in here & was told they are out of sockets when i talked to other people here they said the same thing has been going on for years and was told as i was as well that "you need to wait for the someone to cancel service" and call us.

so i called a internet provider that puts a dish on the roof that POINTS to a tower not space and i was told by the manager NO you cant do that its still a dish.

i am out of options here?

    1. get a rip off mobile hotspot
    2. move... pay higher rent fees that i cant afford
    3. cell phone with hotspot but like all plans not unlimited all capped under 30gb a month then 2g speeds after.
i wish we can have Real Unlimited 4G LTE without caps

now i was holding back on something... the complex does offer free internet.... yeah... know we are talking....

    then again its a joke...

they have the internet locked down under 1mbps not even 0.70kbps down and the upload is about 0.10kbps

they have theses ADSL+ modems in are place that the internet comes from and the provider is called UnWired Broadband i believe thats what some punk kid here told me its that name he seems smart in that stuff but seems expensive to ask questions... i always hear people pay him... yikes... sounds like a scam

so the kid told me he thinks they have some kinda load balancer or Quality of service turned on to give limited access which would explain why

i get super slow netflix, and facebook games take for ever to load and any website and hulu ads take for ever to load and if they dont or stop you have to reply the show over.

    i feel trapped.

i read something about the FCC but that said NOT for MUlti dwellings

The FCC explains its rules regarding restrictions on use of satellite dishes here: Installing Consumer-Owned Antennas and Satellite Dishes.

Assuming that the landlord is not violating those FCC rules then what you can do will depend on (1) what your lease says and (2) what services are available to you in your area.

Direct TV and Dish Network operate in the same frequency band and their satellites are parked right next to each other. There are some differences in their equipment but they are technical in nature and not blatantly obvious except that the names of their respective companies are painted on their dishes, which are otherwise identical.

If you are allowed to have Dish network, call a local independent installer, tell him you are relocating to a complex that only allows Dish and ask him to hook you up using a dish that says Dish Network instead of Direct TV. Your system should work fine and unless the apartment complex management comes inside apartments to inspect receivers to check the provider name, I doubt they are going to complain.

i forgot to say we have a complex that has 4 sections to it individual buildings and only allowed to have 1 dish per building NO MORE and everyone there all 80 units are expected to use 1 dish p[er building and they have things called Siwm adapters that have to be used for so many apartments for them to use it for the HD DVR like a hopper... i hope this helps in a tech way

so if someone asks Dish to cancel service or they die or move or just unplug the Swim adapter lots of people go without dish till a repair guy can come and fig out what happen and where to relocate it and rewire the system outside

i can't say that i blame them for only allowing one dish. you have all of these people signing up for the cheapest rates they can get once one promo ends there out looking for another promo. and what does that mean it means that installers will come out and drill holes in your property and screw it up weather it be satellite cable the phone company

"have you tried a roof mount option directv might even give you one"

Many landlords do not allow this due to damage to roofs from such mountings.
