Default Is a Person Who Rents a Hotel Room Liable for an Unpaid Balance

My question involves court procedures for the state of: TN

I paid for one night at Motel 6 for a friend with my debit card.I only authorized this one night.I booked it through Hotels.com
This same friend then went on to stay at the hotel for 7 more nights. He gave them his credit card to pay for it,but it was declined.
Motel 6 defaulted to using my card for the outstanding bill.I never authorized this.My bank blocked the charge and cancelled my card.
Am I legally liable for this?

Do you have anything in writing that you authorized only one night?

Did you print out a receipt from the website?

    Take a screen shot?

Any documentation at all about authorizing one night?

Then you might have a defense against the additional charges but that might not stop the motel from sending a collection agency after you.

You would be wise to get your friend to pony up his share of the money to pay the bill.

If op or guest never checked out it is simply a continuation of the rental period.

    Maybe.

There's too many things we don't know about the particulars.

You rented the room so yes you are liable for it. Pay the bill and get the money back from your friend.
