My question involves labor and employment law for the state of:
I opened a claim for UE Benefits a year ago. However, my doctor soon determined I should be on Disability i.e. DI. I worked out any confusion with EU regarding weeks claimed which I should have been on DI, although it was not easy. EDD UE refused to close my UE claim and kept it open although I could not claim benefits. I finally recovered and was taken off DI and took a freelance job. When that ended I tried to open a new UE claim, but my old claim was still open, so I used weeks on that claim. Well, after claiming for about 9 weeks between freelance work, the claim date expired. There are still 17 weeks and a balance of $7650 remaining. Is there anything I can do about that balance via some sort of extension? Due to work history from the DI, if I file an immediate new claim my benefits will go from full weekly award to about $50. Not enough to get back on my feet.
