Default What Can a Parent Do if a Child's Name is Changed Without Proper Notice

My daughter was taken away at the age of 2 by her biological mother,i also have biological rights to my daughter seeing that i also signed her original birth paper. Her mom open a paternity support case by stating she did not know my whereabouts when she did then told her family members not to tell me where they had move too, then when my daughter was 13yrs of age her mother went into the courts in North Carolina and illegally had my daughter last name changed without my consent by telling them i was no where to be found. Is that legal and what can be done about it through the paternity
    support division?

Changing the child's name has nothing to do with child support.

Do you see the child? When did all of this happen? A rough timeline would be super helpful

To be clear, as you were not the legally recognized father the mother didn't "take" the child as you allege. As you were not the legal father the daughter's last name was not illegally changed.

Nothing can be done about it, really. As your daughter is now in her teens I suspect that she'll have something to say about you trying to unilaterally change her name. How you try something novel. Be a good father. Ignore the mother's baggage and establish a decent relationship on your daughter's own merits. Believe me, with a teenager this will already be difficult enough. If you choose to blather on and on about mom then you will alienate your daughter and you'll discover how fun that is.

Yep. How often do you see your daughter? When was the last time you spent time with her? What does your daughter say about having her name changed? Is it something she wanted?
