    Default Can Your Roommate Terminate a Lease Without Agreement or Signature

    My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Missouri
    My roommate told me that when the lease is up we are not renewing it, and we would part ways but instead he brakes the contract and tells the landlord that he wants to remove or terminate the lease completely and told the landlord I agreed when I didnt. So now I'm homeless and would like to sue him for terminating the lease without any roommate signature's or agreement. Am I in the right? Please help I'll provide more details if needed

    Sorry, your roommate is not obligated to renew a lease with you.

    Ok so instead of him just moving out and letting me take the lease he just terminated it completely and left me homeless and I'm not getting my 2/3 of security deposit back

    When you say he terminated the lease, are you saying that the lease still had time on it and he ended it early?

    How did you end up being homeless and/or how did you end up leaving the apartment, were you evicted, did your roomy tell you the lease was ended Get Out, what transpired between you and the landlord that you ended up on the street?

    If there is a provision in the lease that allows for early termination by a co-tenant, and the co-tenant used that provision to end the lease early, then the co-tenant has every right to do so. I have no access to the lease.

    If the co-tenant caused a portion of your security deposit to become forfeit as part of an early termination, and you would otherwise have recovered your share at the end of the lease, then you can ask your former roommate to reimburse you and may be able to recover that amount in small claims court.

    Yeah so I could take him to small claims court for my security deposit because he wount reimburse me?
