Yes I've heard of this happening, also supervisors charging for overtime (once at my employer! another on People's Court!), as in "Want some OT hours? OK, but you gotta give me 20% of your OT pay when you get it." Sometimes they even charge upfront, before the OT is actually paid. Also charging for authorizing vacation time, for bathroom breaks, for completing government forms that employers are legally required to complete and give to employees, for desirable schedules, for T4s (Canadian equivalent to W2), for reference letters (several companies I worked at), you name it, they charge for it. Usually at companies with many low-paid unsophisticated and unskilled workers. Especially if many of these workers are recent immigrants and English is their second language.
