I live in Virginia and my ex lives in Georgia. The ex did not contest the actual divorce proceedings after having the papers hand delivered to him by the Georgia police and the I received the final divorce decree dated 2/27/07.

I received a phone call from the ex stating that he has had our divorce annulled..?? Now I have heard of a marriage being annulled, but an actual divorce being annulled?

I was researching the Virginia law and it looks like for the actual divorce to be final, final it takes another 30 days from the time the actual decree was signed by the judge. During this 30 day timeframe can he actually try to contest the divorce now?

I based the divorce on grounds of seperation as we have lived apart for over a year 1/2, $500 alimony, $700 child support was awarded due to a legal seperation agreement we had notorized before the actual divorce and attached to the final decree. The judge awarded the full $1200. Now he wants to "negotiate" and is threatening that he has already had it annulled and we are still married?? The real reason we are no longer together is because he had an affair and then decided it would be a great idea to take our then 15 yr old son on his dates saying she was his "friend". My son goes to counseling 1x week trying to get over this. Then his father abandoned him and moved to Georgia so that he wouldn't have to deal with cleaning up the mess he made. I brought none of this into my divorce proceeding as I didn't want any more drama.

I find it hard to believe him but after looking up the law and seeing that I have another 30 days pending, can he do this?? Please advise!!

Thanks!
