Hello, i could use anyones advice.
Around six years ago my husbands mother was going to lose her house because she could not keep up the payments. At the time, my husband was single, so he moved back in and added his name to the deed and took on the mortgage. We would now like to sell the house and seperate any profits 50/50
with his mother, and go our own way. However, my mother in law refuses. She cannot get a mortgage on her own, much less pay us 50% of the worth. But she refuses to sell it. We are going to contact a lawyer about forcing the sale of the house, but i was wondering if anyone had any information regarding this matter. For example, if she refuses to get a lawyer or show up to court appointments, what would happen? She obviously wont sign anything. How does this process occure? How long does it take? I am in Ontario Canada, but anything you could tell me would help.
thank you
