My sister was caught forging gift certificates where she works. In a 2 year time frame she has stolen upwards of 50,000 dollars. they have called each person on every gift certificate. 99% were fake. What are her best and worst consequences? we are in Maryland.

Default Embezzlement of $50,000 from Employer

With an embezzlement of that magnitude, there is a substantial chance that your sister will face a criminal charge. Her employer will likely also request restitution - that is, reimbursement for at least part of the money stolen - and could potentially bring a civil suit. Your sister should consider consulting with a criminal defense lawyer about her situation.
