Exclamation The Story of a "Friend"

You got a legal response. You got the statutes about criminal and online impersonation. If by your actions you cause harm or death to someone else, you will find another legal response in a court of law.
This actually happened to a friend of mine. Deceived a girl for about 2 years about almost every fact of his life; college attended, fake deaths of loved ones in attempt to relate with her own relatives deaths, money, etc. He bold faced lied to her family about all these things too, just kept perpetuating a story that got more and more bizarre and tragic and unbelievable. She couldn't figure out why he never wanted to commit to marry her, I guess he ended up falling in love with her but didn't have the guts to tell her the truth that would have been revealed at any wedding/marriage. Last minute she finds out, and tries to commit suicide. Police couldn't get him for the actual suicide attempt which landed her in the hospital, but instead they went out of their way to charge him with anything they could in his attempt to intervene in her suicide attempt.... some of them very serious charges. And even after that, they went on to question her about every single illegal thing she knew about the guy, and they ended up investigating and charging him for all that stuff too. Ended up completely destroying his life and his dreams; lol, the judge even committed him to mandatory psychiatric treatment. So yeah, lesson he learned, the police hate hearing about this kind of stuff, and they will do everything in their power to take you down and make you miserable if they find out about it. (The girl also came from a powerful police family, which makes his actions infinitely dumber)

And even after that, they went on to question her about every single illegal thing she knew that the guy could have possibly been doing, and they ended up investigating and charging him for all that stuff too. So yeah, the police hate hearing about this kind of stuff, and they will do everything in their power to take you down and make you miserable if they find out about it.
well im sorry to hear that, whatever happened to your friend. well the difference
is that my friend isnt setting a long term committent with these girls, he is not trying to relate with them, all he is doing is communicating with them, thats all.
im trying to figure out what illegal thing he is doing. Because like i said cyberbullying is different than catfishing in some factors.

btw do you have the link about whatever they charged the guy with?

He is not doing anything inherently illegal as they have not yet outlawed being a complete douche-canoe. He may be charged with any number of crimes, depending on the specific circumstances, if someone were to being harmed as a result of his actions. Budwad provided some of the possibilities to you at the beginning of this crapfest. The exact charges would depend on what happens, where and what a prosecutor feels they can win on.

So please tell your "friend" to stop being the world's second biggest pile of manure.

Do you want to see how things can take a turn for the worst. Read this story. The catfish got away but times have changed since 2011.

Just one of many accounts because of what is now known as catfishing.

I don't have a link, because all of this was never reported by the media. But they charged him with kidnapping and domestic violence for actions he took in his attempt to save the suicidal girlfriend. She then told the police that he illegally used and made drugs to study for graduate school. Then when he was finally charged months later for all those accusations, he got mad and chewed her out because he said she was lying, and he got charged with a whole host of additional harassment/intimidation offenses.

So yeah... bad situation, bearing in mind that at least 3 of his charges carried maximum of life guideline sentences. This isn't catfishing, but its along the same lines of deception. And the police definitely went out of their way to get retribution for the girl.

Perhaps because there is no friend at all and OP is the perpetrator as has been alluded to by another forum member. And now OP is feeling a bit of a wedgie because one of his victims has made accusations .

I just can't get worked up about this. I'm making Thai food and the Yum Goong Haeng is searing my tonsils.

He just told you this guy catfished a girl and she tried to kill herself. Are you dense?

You already got told what laws he could be breaking. But you don't like the answer.

Just tell your friend stop being a douchebag. If he doesn't nothing you can do if he gets arrested.
