My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Alabama

My check engine light came on so I took my vehicle to my local dealership to have the problem diagnosed. I received a call from someone in the service department stating the problem and was told a total price for both parts and labor. I agreed to the price and was told the amount must be paid up front before the part could be ordered and the repair performed. I paid the agreed price in full.

When I returned to pick up my vehicle I was told I would be charged for an additional part and added labor cost due to an unforeseeable problem with the repair. I did not feel this was fair, but had no choice to pay the additional cost since they would not release my vehicle until paid.

Do you feel this was correct business practice?
