My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: New York
Hi everybody. I just have a quick question. Im currently renting an apartment in NY. I get help with my rent from a housing agency and the worker came by today saying that my landlord wanted to renovate and they would need to find me a new place to live.
What is the legality in this? They cannot simply kick me out and make me move to "renovate" correct? I've read elsewhere online that if those renovations are not to bring the place up to code, I can simply refuse them? Or that while they do it they need to help pay for my temporary lodging?
I've lived there nearly two years and have never had a problem paying rent. Always on time.
Can someone give me some advice please?
If they want me out, they need to do it legally correct?
What are my rights in this situation?
