Default Worried about statutory rape charges

Okay... i met this girl... she told me she was 17... i am 20... it was okay... florida laws state i can be sexual with her as long as she is 16 and i am under 24... recently she told me she was only 15... i was absolutely mortified... i have proof she lied about her age... but... it says here...

Importantly, ignorance of the victim's age is irrelevant as a defense to the charge, even if the victim lied about his or her age or the accused had a bona fide belief the victim was old enough to give consent.

So basically all i can do is hope that she never spills the beans? are you kidding me?! her parents basically don't know i exist... and nobody knows we've had sex except her sister... there is no proof we had sex and i am not going to do anything sexual with this girl until she is legal... if ever again...

Should I be worried? because I am... and i'm looking for someone to calm me down... can anyone help?

You should put as much distance between you and this girl as possible. Who knows what else she has lied about? Legally you can go to jail your ignorance (as stated) means nothing everyone use that defense true or not it wont wash.

I guess those are the consequences for sleeping with someone who is underage. It would help in the future if you actually got to know someone before sleeping with them...so that this kind of situation doesn't happen...

Yes thats possible but if you stay with her sooner or later you will have sex again or lack of it may get her to tell. You dug this hole now you need to find a way out. First thing is stop the ilegal action and put as much distance as you can between you. You might also consult with an Attorney you are in serious doo doo

Any continued action with this underage girl will only get you in much deeper. Transfer schools ,jobs etc. but you need to not be seeing her anymore. What part of SHE LIED and can get you thrown in prison do you not understand?

I agree with everyone. stay away from her. my fiance is in prison over tha same thing only she raped him. she got mad because he didn't want anything to do with her and filed statutory rape charges on him. whether you believe a female can rape a male or not but she tells everyone how she did it but that wasn't used in court because his lawyer said you cant make her look like a slut. even tho we have her voice recorded explaining how she did it. she even admitted who else she did this to. but of course they didn't use this in his defense.
