    Default Does the FDCPA Require Notice of Collections

    If you find out after four years that you have a debt collection item listed on your credit report, is that a FDCPA violation? The consumer received no notice that the bill was in collections.

    If the debt is owed, even if the consumer did not receive a bill or notice that it has been assigned to a collection agency, the creditor may accurately report that information to a credit reporting agency.
