Default Can a Landlord Evict a Terminally Ill Disabled Person

A tenant is renting a condo from a landlord, and has lived in the condo for several years. The tenant is terminally ill and completely disabled from working. The landlord has informed the tenant that her rent is going up. The tenant cannot afford to pay additional rent, whether in her current location or elsewhere. Can the landlord raise the rent beyond what a completely disabled tenant can afford to pay, and can the tenant be evicted if she cannot pay? This is in South Carolina.
