They have an image of your face at the checkout. That is really all they need. Is your picture on your driver's license? I'm guessing it is. Facial recognition software will identify you. Checkmate.

I’m not clear on what you are saying here. The credit card issuer (usually a bank) is convinced the charges were due to fraud it would certainly remove the charges from the customer’s account. But whether the merchant might get stuck with the loss would depend a lot on whether the merchant followed whatever it is supposed to do to detect fraud in the first place. It is not automatic that the merchant would be in the clear here and the bank would take the loss.
Thoughtless act? More like Grand Theft. Identity theft and various other things. Congrats. You could become a felon.
yes, police care about theft under $2000. Continue in your fantasy world though. Walmart can do many things including filing a felony complaint. Maybe you should not have been a thief. Oh yeah... but you were. You might spend time in prison. CONGRATS!
I think we are being trolled. Dropping a $400 Ipad with the CCs and taking a TV. Nope, doesn't make sense.
I think so too. When I first read that OP dropped the IPad I thought "It wasn't in a box? Or smash-proof container of some kind? Wow they do take some chances when they ship these things..." And then I tried to visualize the incident and OP's reaction "Oh darn I dropped an IPad that cost $400, I'll just leave it there on the floor and not get upset or anything, it's not like I care whether or not they think I'm a real customer, and oh double darn there go the cards I just used to commit fraud, I'll just leave them there too, again it's not like I care whether or not they catch me...but hey! Here comes an employee with the TV! He obviously didn't see me drop the cards and IPad - though I know he'll find out about it pretty soon - so I'll just take the TV home with me, why not make things as bad for me as I possibly can right?" and realized this was absolutely impossible. A person crafty enough to forge a signature on a credit card and confident enough to weather his way through the cash register suddenly loses it completely when he drops the mysteriously-unpackaged IPad and credit cards on the floor? Nuh-uh.
Yep, Walmart is teaming with cameras. Every cash register is covered and keyed to the transactions. They caught a few guys who bought instruments of a crime traced back to Walmart this way.
what happened was i was on my way out and I saw walmart security holding someone inside cause they suspected theft..and as I stated I am not good at this kind of stuff, im not a good at stealing obviously, I wasn't thinking on this night..
so I went into an aisle and dropped the ipad and credit cards and left fast.
then I stayed in the parking lot in my car to see if they were onto me, if they knew I was using a stolen CC, and then they brought out the $900 tv and put it in my car for me....
I didn't have to enter in any pin # or anything, these credit cards used chip readers. the register for these electronic items was in the back of the store, not the front.
the girl even asked me for my license on the $900 item and I said I didn't have it, and she didn't care.
I don't know where the ipad or CC's ended up...who may of taken them whether it be another customer or employee....
regardless, im an idiot, obviously.
