My brother in law was just deported from canada on tuesday march 6, 2007. He was deported on grounds that the marriage to my sister was not real. Our whole family wrote letters to the lawyers and case workers saying that this wasn't the case. He has a one year old son and a business and a new home and they sent him back to nigeria where he was detained at the airport in lagos and was robbed of all his belongings and held for ransom until his friends here sent $100,000 canadian and was beaten so bad that he is now in the hospital. Now what i need to know is are there any laws or rights we have as his family to say that it is unsafe for him there which is why he came to canada in the first place and find a way to get him back here or to a safer place at least. How long will it take before he can be sponsored back to canada, this sistuation has made me embarassed to call myself a canadian that we treat people this way with no concern for the welfare of my sister and her family or for the individual himself who is lying in a hospital recovering from a beating that the corrupt law enforcers gave him. We are desperate to get him back here. what can we do?
