Default Is it Easier for a Fiancée to Immigrate Before or After Marriage

If you are a U.S. Citizen and are dating a woman from Indonesia, and want to get married, is it better to marry first in Indonesia then to petition for her to come to the U.S., or to have her come to the U.S. as your fiancée and to marry in the U.S.?

Default Re: Is it Easier for a Fiancée to Immigrate Before or After Marriage

The U.S. Citizen can petition for a fiancé visa, so that the fiancée may legally come to the U.S. where they would marry within 90 days of her entry, followed by their petition for U.S. Legal Permanent Residency on her behalf. In the alternative, they can marry in Indonesia and then seek a Green Card through consular process.

Before picking an approach, it would be sensible to discuss the full facts of the situation with an immigration lawyer.
