Default How to Find Out Who Made an Unauthorized Transaction on Your Checking Account

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Texas

I had two unauthorized withdrawals from my checking account. I caught the withdrawals within 2 days. I contacted my bank and everything was corrected. My question is as follows: Is there any way I can find out who used my account number and routing bank number?

What did the people at the bank say when you asked them that?

Did the bank suggest that you close that account and open a new one? Sometimes its bad guys that test account numbers with small transactions only to wait a week or so and then hit them with bigger transactions.

You should also go to your local police station and file a police report just in case your personal info has been stolen. You can then send that report to the credit reporting agencies where they will put a security freeze on your accounts and any future accounts. With a police report, I believe it lasts 7 years. It means that no new credit accounts, mortgages, or equity accounts cannot be opened without your express verification. And your credit information is not accessible without your permission.

That depends. If this was a wire transfer, the bank has the information to what account the money was transferred. If it was a personal withdrawal at a bank or ATM, or a fraudulent check cashing, they may not be able to identify who did it. You can call the bank fraud department and find out if there is an investigation and what they know. But chances are they will not disclose that information.

How was the money withdrawn? Using your atm card at an atm, using your account or routing number, or buying something online? Or another way?
