    Default Question about Switiching Tags

My friend has just been smacked in the face with a paper that says he has made Numerous and many problematic returns.

Well here is the story, My friend are really close I've known him for about all my life, he recently started to buy Items, what he would do at this point is switch the price tag to another item and return that item with the same receipt he has been doing this for about 3 years.

I wanted to know what would happen if he gets caught in the state of California.

    Thank you.

Depending on dollar value you could be looking at a felony

Lets say about $5000 to $8000 but the items he has been returning had about the sme value as the other things he bought.

    Thanks for your anwser.

    Edit
Sorry to be foolish but there is no death penalty included in this type of crime, correct?

Yep felony although its funny he hasnt been caught yet. In todays world of computers etc he will be (if not already) flagged. tell your "friend" to stop now if not caught.

Thanks again, But, he tells me he has only switched tags on a few or 8~9 items, the rest were normal returns, he usually buys 3 things at a time trys them out at home and takes them back, and there return policy has nothing against that.

You sure do know a lot of details about what your friend does....

He's going to get nailed if he continues.

He claims to have only switched 8 to 9 stuff, by the way when I asked $5000 I was asking it would be a felony, the stuff is probably not accurate, Also he said he has recently stopped. I think they will just smack a fine is his face.

If they catch him he can expect to face criminal charges. If he wishes to show up to ask some follow-up questions, he should start a new thread.
