Default Can Your Landlord Recover an Overpayment of Your Security Deposit Refund

If your landlord gives you a security deposit refund but accidentally doubles the amount of the refund, can the landlord require that you repay the money? If so, how long does a landlord have to ask for the money back, in California?

Default Re: Can Your Landlord Recover an Overpayment of Your Security Deposit Refund

Your landlord can ask you to return the overpayment, and could potentially sue you to recover the overpayment if you don't voluntarily return the money. With a written lease, the statute of limitations for such an action is four years.
