Default Careless Driving in New Jersey

I stopped at a red light two lanes one way two lanes the other. the light went green and i accelerated a normal rate of speed. A police car pulled out in front of me from a parking lot (maybe 50 yards from the light) and almost stopped in my lane. He was heading across two lanes and going into the other two lanes heading the other way. I proceeded towards him at about 25 mph (the speed limit) and honked to get him to move out of my way. I was about to merge into the other lane which was empty but he finally creeped out of my way. There was minimal traffic on the other side of the road and no reason to stay on my lane. He pulled me over but had a difficult time turning around because of traffic behind me and I did not notice he was behind me. he gave me another ticket for not putting my blinker on to take a protected left hand turn at the next intersection and another ticket for not having a nj license. (I told him i had been living there for a year and a half and did not have my college ID on me.)
Just wondering how i should pursue this. Ill probably plead guilty to the left hand turn. The license is not an issue as long as I bring my Student ID with me to court. Thanks for your help.

Ive never been to court before and i don't know the best defense, thats why I came here. Some of the points I would assume that I should use is that I had a clear point of exit at all times(the outside lane), I was honking to warn him that I and other cars was approaching, and i was endangering no one because there was no one else around (no one on the sidewalk, no one else pulling out of the parking lot and no one in the outside lane). In other words there was no chance of an accident. Is there any other points that i should bring up? Or is pleading not guilty going to make my situation worse?
BTW the officer circled not guilty on the back of the license ticket and the careless ticket. I am assuming he wants me to plead not guilty.
