My question involves juvenile law in the State of: California.
I am a female in the state of California and I turned 16 a few days ago. I am in the process of getting a job where I earn $12.50 an hour upon starting and have various health benefits (the job is at In N Out). My parents are very religious, but at the same time notorious hypocrites. My dad is an alcoholic and my mother has severe anger issues, they fight loudly and very frequently and my mother is very verbally abusive towards me and my younger brother. I wish to move out on my own, but I know that there is absolutely no way they would ever let me move out, my father sometimes refers to me as their "meal ticket" because of my intellectual ability and aspirations to become a cardiovascular surgeon.
Is there any way I can move out without their consent? If so how would I do it and what are the requirements? In addition, if a wealthy friend of mine who is a year older than me offered to let me stay with her and her family would I be allowed to move there without them gaining custody rights over me?
