Default Is it Blackmail to Threaten Somebody With a Lawsuit

A woman was involved with a married man in North Carolina, and his wife threatened her with an alienation of affection lawsuit if she did not leave the husband alone.

The wife and husband are now separated and the woman wants to resume the relationship.

If the wife tries to sue the woman for alienation of affection, can the woman countersue based on extortion, due to the earlier threat to sue her if she did not stop seeing the husband?
