Default Can You Be Convicted of MIP for Handing an Officer Somebody Else's Alcohol

In California, last Friday I went to meet up with a friend who was waiting with another friend in a parking lot. When I got there the other friend had left and I got in the car to ask where we were going to go as I was just going to follow her in my car. My friend (who is 21) was drinking and the other friend had left an open container on the passenger door where I was sitting. Not even 10 minutes passed that I was in the car a cop banged on the window and asked to see my friends license and then asked if her passenger was also drinking. I said no and he shined the flashlight at me and laughed and told me to hand him the drink and my license. I was so scared that I didn't even say "it wasn't mine" or anything of that matter. He gave us both tickets my friend for open container and me for minor in possession. Is there any possible way that I could get this dismissed and not have my license suspended? I plan to plead not guilty and my court date is in a month. Has anyone had an MIP before and gotten away with no suspension of their license? Any advice would help...
