Default Can an Employer Require You to Work on a Sunday Without Pay

An employer is relocating between locations, and has told its employees that they must come into work on a Sunday in order to help with the relocation. The employees have been told that they will not receive additional pay to come in, even though they would normally have the day off. Is that legal?

Default Re: Can an Employer Require You to Work on a Sunday Without Pay

It is legal to require that employees work on weekends, including Sundays, although the employer would have to respect employees' genuinely held religious objections to working on a Sunday.

If the employees are exempt then they can be required to work an additional day without additional pay. If the employees are non-exempt, then they must receive their regular hourly wages and overtime laws will potentially apply.
