A landlord requires that all tenants obtain renters insurance, and also that the landlord be named as an additional insured on the renters insurance policy. Can the landlord demand that he be included as an additional insured?

I know of no reason why the landlord could not impose such a requirement, but depending on the tenant's insurance coverage it may not make much sense. If the policy covers only loss or damage to the tenant's personal property, then the landlord would have no reason to be an additional insured. If it would cover damage to the premises caused by the tenant, being an additional insured would help the landlord if the tenant did not want to submit a damages claim or tried to walk away with insurance money that was intended to be used for the repair of damages.
