LPR status does not expire, but a Green Card does expire. The LPR should have received a notice some years ago, instructing him or her to obtain a replacement card. The LPR should now apply for a replacement card, ASAP. The delay in seeking a replacement may result in questions about why the replacement was not sought at an earlier date, and to confirm that the LPR remains entitled to that status.
