    If you want to separate in Pennsylvania, can you change the locks on your home to keep your spouse out?

    If it's the marital home, or if it's a home that you jointly own, then you're going to have a difficult time keeping your spouse from entering -- even from breaking and entering -- unless you go to court to file a divorce case and get an order of exclusive possession.

    The situation is different if this is a home that you separately own, and where your spouse has never lived. Once you separate and establish your own, separate residence, your spouse has no inherent right to enter your home.
