Targeted for what sort of "investigation?"

What makes you think they installed anything on your computer?

Despite the fact you put a question mark at the end of your post, I'm missing what the question is.

If you are having problems with your computer after getting it repaired, but keep going back to the same repair service, you should consider working with a better repair service. If your computer has repeated software problems that you need to have fixed, you need to be more judicious as odds are that you're accidentally installing malware and spyware on your computer along with the "free downloads" that you think you're installing. If your computer is breaking down because it is old, get a new one.

If you have repeated problems with a computer and your first assumption is that the police are breaking your computer on an ongoing basis, then you should consider the two most likely possibilities: You are engaged in criminal activity and are worried about getting caught to the point of paranoia, or you are mentally ill and should be getting psychiatric help.
