jk, if she has been using her husbands insurance and never enrolled in Medicare, she can enroll in Medicare when she loses her husbands insurance without the lifetime penalty, can't she ?
That one I can't answer. The primary/secondary issue I know as my wife is on ssdi and I still work and have insurance on the both of us and I've been through a provider making the error or billing medicsre as primary too many times and had to deal with it.

She refused to have anything withheld from her check, including medicare and taxes.
Then why did you say this?

I have always maintained health insurance on her. She claims that the medicare she receives is not sufficient . I bel
so does she have Medicare or not?

btw: you could have filed taxes separately. That way she would owe for the taxes on her income while you take care of
    yours.

Because all she did was go to an attorney that specialized in getting people disability benefits. Her friends talked her into going because they all did and received the same package. She had no prior conditions and never mentioned anything about them until the attorney's doctor told her what to say. After 3 visits to the doctor and 3 months of her attorney filing papers, she went to a board and read a script that the attorney gave her and boom, she got paid, the attorney got paid and she has been getting paid since then. She goes to see the same doctor every few months to keep it going.

    .
If you say so. I know that you're wrong, but you won't want to hear that. I could show you black and white proof and you'd still never admit to being wrong.

    Ah well. Such is life!

jk, if she was covered by her spouses insurance, she may not have to pay the penalty. Of course her spouse has no way of knowing if she does or does have Medicare in addition to his insurance. The fact that she has not said anything about insurance leads me to believe she probably has Medicare. But, I could be wrong.

Unless she hid all mail from medicare he should have a good idea if she has medicare. They send a lot of material that is clearly from the medical folks. I would have to be blind to not have some idea my wife has Medicare.
