2 years ago I was in a store with a friend when I was stopped for shoplifting. I didn't know that my friend had put 2 items in her bag. After I paid for my items, I ended up carrying all of the bags out to my car, while she was to be buying something else. I was stopped almost immediately by LP after exiting the store and they took me to a backroom and checked my receipt and found $98 worth of upaid merchandise in my friend's bag. I tried to tell them that it wasn't mine and that my friend was still in the store, but they said that they saw me on camera (a lie), they called the police, took my pic and made me sign some forms saying that I wouldn't return to their store before they let me leave (I didn't go to jail that day). The policer officer was just to serve as a witness. The catch was that I had to appear at the jail a month later to be booked and all. I appeared but a different officer sent me home stating that I wasn't on record. I then went down to sessions court to see what was going on and they too said that they had no record of me. How do I find out if there is a warrant or something out for me? Is is possible for them to file a warrant although they sent me home? How long does a store keep video footage? What are the statue of limitations for this incident and do they apply ? Can somone help with these questions?
