    Default Can You Transfer a Sentence of Home Detention to Another State

    Can a defendant in a criminal case in Indiana transfer a sentence of home detention to Kentucky, where her family lives, so that she will have better family support?

    Any transfer of home detention would require the approval of the sentencing court, and cooperation between the probation departments of the courts in the sentencing and destination states. Such a transfer is rare, but it is within the realm of possibility. It's best for the defendant to work with a criminal defense lawyer.
