My question involves a marriage in the state of: Idaho
Hi there, I recently went through a divorce (uncontested) and owe some money as a result. The truth is I didn't take it seriously; I let my ex do all the work on the divorce and now I owe a decent sum of money. I'm regretting it now. I'm completely clueless when it comes to this sorta thing (the laws), and have yet to talk to a professional, which I am going to do soon.
My ex wants money on a car I bought well we were technically together but also separated and then money for half of her debt but not at the time of the divorce but about 8 months prior when we separated. Initially she wanted me to send her money through an app (really) and I wasn't okay with that so started researching the best means of paying and it doesn't seem like a normal thing to just send money but instead pay on some kind of existing debt. She wants 14k in total...9k for credit card debt, which as far as I know might not even exist...we weren't on the account together.
My question is, is everything on the paper work absolute? In retrospect I don't see how I could be forced to pay debt she might not even have anymore. What happens if I don't pay? She is threatening to send me to court because I haven't made any "payments" to her in 3 months since the divorce.
Thanks
