Default Can You Extend Your 90-Day ESTA Stay by Visiting Canada

If you visit the U.S. with ESTA, can you extend your stay by visiting Canada then re-entering the U.S.? For example, if you spend 70 days in the U.S., then visit Canada, when you return can you qualify for another stay as a tourist for the full 90 days?

Default Re: Can You Extend Your 90-Day ESTA Stay by Visiting Canada

If you visit Canada or Mexico with the intent of coming back after only a brief visit, the 90 day limit carries through despite your absence from the country.

If you are a citizen or permanent resident of Canada, or hold a work visa in Canada, then your return to Canada should be deemed a return to your nation of residence such that when you next visit the U.S. you can qualify for a stay of up to 90 days under Esta. (The same is true for Mexican citizens who return to Mexico.)
