    Angry Pregnant Employee Unfairly Fired

I live in NY but worked in NJ.
I was hired on 02/09/2007. On 02/13/2007 my employer asked and I confirmed I was pregnant. The next few days things went downhill fast. I was made to lift heavy items, they made me work through my lunch break and they had me going up and down 2 flights of steep stairs numerous times per day while carrying things. Other employees started treating me differently too. They started giving me orders to do their work. When I spoke to my supervisor he told me the other employees mattered more. On 02/21/2007 I found out my employer was interviewing for my position and I was sent home early ( I guess because the person was coming in for an interview). On 02/22/2007 I was fired for not being friendly enough and because they didn't like the way I answered the phone. Now I know NJ is right to hire/fire state but I am looking for opinions. Does it sound like I was fired for being pregnant?? Oh when I asked for a termination letter I was told they have to check with their attorney first.

How did your job duties differ from those of other employees holding the same position?

I really don't know. My position was vacant for over 3 months after the last bookkeeper quit with no warning. When I started they did complain alot about the work she didn't do (you could tell she was a topic to stay away from) I did get a job description when I was hired and there were many things I did that were no where on the list (including answering phones, working during my lunch break, doing the work of other employees which didn't relate to my job in any way, lifting heavy items just to name a few).

Also I was the only person in accounting so all accounting functions were handled by me in case that matters in your answer.
