    If you're investigated by a federal agency, but you don't know why you are being investigated, should you cooperate with the investigation?

    You should find a lawyer who is familiar with the specific federal agency and its investigative processes, and work through the lawyer. If this turns out to be a criminal investigation, you could end up talking yourself into trouble, or accused of lying to a federal investigator.
