    Default What Happens if You Don't Respond to a Divorce

    Last year a woman filed for divorce against her husband, in California. He did not respond to the divorce petition or file an FL-120. The judge has given the man thirty days to file documents with the court, and says that he'll issue a decision if nothing is received by that deadline.

    If the husband fails to follow through, he can expect that the court will grant a default judgment of divorce, and divide the marital estate based upon the facts as presented by his soon-to-be-ex-wife.
