If you invite somebody into your home for a visit, such as a dinner guest, and that person steals property from your home, will your homeowner's insurance cover the theft?

Review your homeowner's insurance policy, or open a claim and see if they accept the claim and provide coverage. You can expect that they will want a copy of the police report, documenting the theft and identifying the suspect.
