Default Mileage Reimbursement for Fugitive Recovery Agents

Can a fugitive recovery agent be required to provide his own vehicle for seeking out fugitives around the state, with no compensation for gas, mileage or wear-and-tear from the bail bonding company?

Default Re: Mileage Reimbursement for Fugitive Recovery Agents

If the agents are working as independent contractors, and have been properly categorized as independent contractors, as is often the case in that industry, then you are entitled only to the compensation you negotiate for any given recovery job.

If the agents are working as employees of the agency, then they are entitled to reimbursement for expenses such as mileage on their personal vehicles, under Sec. 2802 of the Labor Code.
