    Default Damages for Contracting a STD

    If a person in California gives somebody else a STD, can the person be sued for damages and emotional distress?

    If the person knew or should have known that they had a STD, and they communicated the STD to a sexual partner, they can potentially be held liable for knowingly or negligently giving the STD to the other person.
